Nathan Lowe

From his earliest years, Nathan Lowe had great interest in firearms. Having grown up in the South, such interest was not surprising. But Nathan did not actively pursue it apart from learning some basics. Instead, he initially focused on a potential academic career.

Having earned a Bachelor’s in Philosophy, Nathan entered graduate school with an eye on earning a PhD in Philosophy and becoming a professor. Eventually, however, he became disillusioned with academic life, and turned to another longtime interest in audio engineering and voice over work.

After several years working in radio, running his own recording studio, and working as a voice actor, Nathan felt the yearning to pursue firearms training and education. A parallel longtime interest in the philosophy of law re-emerged with an emphasis on Constitutional law, and the Second Amendment in particular. Combined with the singular experience of being related to combat veterans – both Nathan’s father, Jerry Lowe, and brother Jeremy served in theater – Nathan began thinking about how firearms and survival training could be reimagined.

Over the course of several years, Nathan and Jeremy developed the plan for a training school that cultivates expert skills, character, and mindset. That plan was built, in large part, around a culture of respect for the practice of arms, survival, readiness, and similar skillsets. At the same time, Nathan believed that there was a deep need to provide this instruction without the attendant political and ideological distractions that too often permeate the firearms and survival community. Thus, the decision to found Bear Ridge Survival Systems. As the plan took shape, experts like Zeb Barnes came on board to round out the team. Together, they and others on the team are committed to providing the best possible education and hands-on training for all levels of students and professionals in an atmosphere of inclusion, respect, and edification.
